Making French toast with cereal might sound totally unfamiliar and maybe even teeters on "gross." I get it. I had my reservations at first but I'm glad they went away.

I know Halloween is over but my husband and I are still finishing up the last of the General Mills Halloween Monster cereals. We recently made Frute Brute French Toast and it came out so awesome. We loved it so much that we made it again with Boo Berry and again with Count Chocula. Click here for my full recipe and instructions.

The coloring is absolutely lovely. I love the contrast of color when cutting into the toast. I also love how well the leftovers kept in the frig. Since it's just the two of us, a batch (12 slices) may last for one or two meals. Just depends how hungry we are and how much time we have to sit and enjoy breakfast together. I reheated summore the following day and it was just as good (it was probably even better but I don't know if it truly was or it was just my love for leftovers). Seriously. Leftovers always taste awesome. There is a marriage of flavor that always happens in the frig overnight. This is probably the number one argument I always have with people. Oh well.
If you missed out on the seasonal Halloween cereals, try this recipe with your favorite year-round cereal instead. What cereal is your favorite? Which would you use?
I've had a hankering for tortilla chips lately. Tostito's Multigrain scoops are a favorite in our house. They taste super yummy and are perfect for scooping up dip! I also found some Halloween-themed chips for 99 cents. They were too cute to pass up. I love that the rounds are orange (like pumpkins) and the black chips are triangles (like witch's hats). Accident or on purpose?
I've also been on the lookout for a new chip dip recipe. I came across one recently and finally gave it a try. I love it so much! It's now my go to recipe for having friends over or television snacking. Click here for 3 Ingredient Chip Dip recipe.
My husband and I made quick work of this afternoon snack while putting up our Halloween decorations :)

I made these Banana and chocolate chip streusel muffins the other day. I'm still amazed at how awesome and yummy they are considering they take almost no time and were super easy to make. They didn't even make it through the day. The recipe makes 12 muffins-- I gave 4 to a neighbor and Jason and I made quick work of the rest. I'm happy I still have some frozen ripe bananas and can make more today. Next time I'm doubling this recipe!

I've currently got 15 bottles of sprinkles in my baking cupboard. I'm not usually a sprinkle or jimmy hoarder, but every time I see a cute bottle, I have to get it. I'm doing so much fall baking lately that I justify buying more because I AM using them.
I made some cupcakes using a store-bought mix and frosting because I just wanted to get down to business and decorate already!

The cupcake mix is Pillsbury's Moist Supreme Perfectly Pumpkin. The frosting is cream cheese-flavored also by Pillsbury. I picked them up in the Halloween baking section of Target. They taste super yummy together. This cake mix isn't super pumpkiny-tasting either-- in case you were put off or wondering.
The ghosts are made by Wilton (gosh, I love Wilton almost as much as I love my husband) and they came from Party City for $5.00. Five bucks is 'spensive for only 12 ghosts but they are so cute! I had to shell out the monies. Sprinkles are also by Wilton.

This was my first time working with black food coloring. I tried to get a bottle at various grocery stores but couldn't find it. Supposedly it should be in a bottle with the other food colorings (usually in the spice aisle), but oh well. I ended up buying it at Michael's. This one is by Wilton and comes in a container similar to a short prescription medicine bottle. It was $2.00 for an ounce and is more of a paste than a liquid. I put a little directly into my frosting container and stirred with a butter knife. Adding a little made grey. Adding a little more made this lovely purple color. I wasn't expecting or trying to achieve it, but stuck with it.
The cupcake papers came from my local Fry's grocery store. They aren't Halloween-themed but they look like it. I buy them throughout the year and love them. They're also foil-lined, which I love, because the white designs stay white even if your cupcakes are dark.

This recipe made 50 cookies and aside from the dozen that we gave friends, my husband and I ate the rest in a matter of hours. They came out so yummy it was so difficult to not eat another and another.
Traditionally I make Christmas pizzelles and sprinkle them with confectioner's sugar but these pumpkin pizzelles tasted super yummy plain. I also made a batch with Halloween sprinkles.
Check it all out here.
P.S. My husband got such heebie jeebies when I put the cute spider here for a photo ;)

Two cereals down, three to go! These came out so tasty! They look and taste like traditional funfetti cupcakes. I unpacked my Halloween decorations yesterday specifically looking for these eyeballs. Now I just have to do a little fall cleaning and decorate the house!

I love this fall recipe because it makes a ton of cookies. So many that I started packaging up cute little stacks and sharing. My new favorite thing is parchment paper. I've been buying it up at Dollar Tree whenever I can. I baked these cookies on it and also used some to wrap my little cookie packages. I'm also so glad I bought that little ghost stamp from the dollar section at Michael's last year. He came in handy this weekend.
